Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go. At first glance, it's hard to believe this is the real title since it's less like a title, and more like a sentance. But don't let the insanely long title (Or the words 'Monkey Team') stop you from giving this surprisingly wonderfull show a chance.
I'll admit, when I first saw the commercials I thought it looked rediculous. If it weren't for my husband's nagging (Yes, I am a married adult who loves this show) I might never have watched it. I'm glad I gave it a try, because now I am hooked.
SRMTHFG is on Jetix at 9:30pm EST and has been on the air since September 18th of 2004. It is currently 47 episodes long.
The show's main character is Chiro, who one day finds a gigantic super robot on the outskirts of the city he lives in, Shuggazoom (Also the nameof the planet), and goes inside the moss covered automaton. In the control room he discovers five cybernetic monkies in different colored stasis tubes. He fiddles with the robot's controls and accidently wakes the monkies from their sleep. Believing he was destined to be so, they make Chiro their leader.
That's the back story, but there's a lot more to it. The first few episodes may not impress you, as they are fun, but nothing earth shattering. Once you get to episode five, bits of a continuous storyline begin to emerge. By the end of season one, it becomes an amazingly well thought out story that continually sucks you in, and the fact that cybernetic monkies make up a majority of the cast no longer makes you giggle.
This show has action, romance, drama, humor, fun, and tradgedy. Star Wars, Star Trek and anime fans will love the various references to these shows/genres scattered throughout it. I beg anyone who is skeptical to give this show a fair chance. You will be glad you did. ^_^\/
